An Incredible Week!

Area: MTC
Companion: Sister Raelynn Pito

This week has been incredible! People aren't kidding when they say missionary work is hard. But it's definitely a good hard. I am learning sooo much! I can hardly believe how much I've learned in just a week. If I've learned this much in one week, I can't even comprehend how much I'll learn in a year and a half.

When I got set apart as a missionary, I could literally feel the power of the priesthood and the mantle placed on me as hands were placed on my head. Being a missionary I can already see blessings from that. I have prayed harder this week than I have in my entire life. I feel so much more focused. It's amazing to see the Lord's hand so evident everyday. I have been able to hyperfocus in long classes and learn so much about teaching people.

My companion, Sister Pito, is pretty awesome. She's Samoan. I was so excited to tell Jason that. :)
She has incredible faith. I saw Elder Scott Johnson a couple times and Sister Kelsea Marchant. I've been surprised by how many people I run into that I know here.

On Sunday I got to sing in the MTC choir. "The song is called Hurrah For Israel" and we'll be singing it at the devotional tonight for a general authority. Singing as missionaries is very powerful. I look forward to using music as a tool to bring the spirit throughout my mission.

Something I heard in a fireside that really touched me is "I left my family for [a year and a half] so that other families can be together forever" I hope that brings comfort to you Mom, Dad, and family. Yesterday Sister Pito and I taught our first real lesson in TRC. It went well. Her name is Victoria and she's a real investigator. We talked to her about prayer and coming to know God loves her. Sister Pito and I were working well together. Which was great because our practice lesson totally blew. A powerful moment for me was when I looked her in the eye and told her that as a representative of Jesus Christ, I felt His love for her and promised that if she prayed with a sincere heart and real intent to feel His love and know that this is the right path for her, that he would answer her and she would know. We then challenged her to do so before our next visit. For me, I felt the spirit so strong in saying that. Because I have been called as a representative of Jesus Christ and, through the spirit, was able to make that promise and mean it.

I'm so grateful to be a missionary. It is hard. And there was definitely no way to comprehend what it would be like until coming into it. But it is so awesome! I love serving the Lord and His children and can't wait to go to Texas and find those who are waiting and searching.

Thanks so much for all the support. Letters mean so much to me, and always come at just the right times. I love you all. Shout out to Matt and Valerie Evans. They're the best! ;) Ha ha!

Anyways, the MTC is great, my teachers are amazing, and I look forward to Texas. I love you family. I love you mom and want you especially to know that I love you and think about you often. I want to assure you that everything is going really well.

I'll write you next Tuesday and then the next week I'll be in the field!

Love,
Sister Record

Enters the MTC

Sister Annelise Record was set apart as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tuesday, 22 July by President Steven Hill of the Maple Mountain Stake. This picture was taken right after she was set apart.

This morning Sister Record spent the time packing and getting ready. Our dog, "Poppy", seemed to know something was up and followed Sister Record around the house all day yesterday and today. Upstairs or downstairs, he followed. She got her bags packed and ready to go and just waited for while until it was time to leave. She got all her stuff into two suitcases. She only has one additional carry on bag.

Next we set out for lunch at Chuck-A-Rama in Provo. The boys really love that place, and Sister Record ate for free.

This picture was taken at the Provo Utah Temple, just east of the MTC. It was pretty hot. We happened to see Rebecca Rowley there and enjoyed saying good-bye to her too.

We arrived at the MTC and unpacked her bags. Hugs good-bye and a loving send off. May God watch over her and keep her safe as she serves Him.

Finally, she is off with her host. Her host will guide her through her first day at the MTC. It will be such an amazing, life changing experience for her.

Saying Goodbye

We had an informal party at our home yesterday so friends and family could stop by to say good-bye to Annelise. Annelise gave a talk in Sacrament meeting yesterday as well on the topic of "Faith" and did a great job. She will be an awesome missionary!

The whole family. Annelise, Chris, Lorielle, Jason, Eric, Sheri and Jason Wayne.
